Home to incredible wonders, an abundance of life, and serving as the planet’s lifesource, supporting humanity and all life on Earth.
World Oceans Day is hosted by United Nations every year on June 8 to create awareness about the importance of a healthy ocean, and how it sustains life and livelihoods on the planet.
Let’s share with you the importance of protecting our shared blue planet.
The ocean produces more oxygen than the Amazon rainforest
The oceans are responsible for producing at least 70% of the earth’s oxygen.
Phytoplankton, a tiny organism, absorbs carbon dixide and release oxygen, same way as trees does on land.
90% of big fish populations
NEEDS OUR FULL ATTENTION
There are multiple threats to our oceans, and thereby the health of our planet. These are some of the critical threats against our oceans where urgent actions are needed:
WE’RE ON THE VERGE OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL DISASTER AFFECTING US ALL.
Here are some ways to take action whether you are a private individual or a business:
LEAVE NOTHING BEHIND
Join our #cleanupchallenge, not only on World Oceans Day, but choose to be a hero everyday and collect the litter you see in nature. Share your efforts on Social Media to inspire others, tag us, and get featured.
REDUCE PLASTIC USAGE
Small acts, big impact. There are simple ways to reduce your plastic footprint. Choose plastic-free alternatives, refuse single-use and choose reusable items, and demand the brands you support to take action.
JOIN THE MOVEMENT
Get your business part of our cleanup mission. The Resea Movement have already stopped +305 tonnes of plastic from polluting oceans and rivers in the first four months of 2021. But we need all the help in the world to increase our impact.
HOW WE CELEBRATE WORLD OCEANS DAY
Together with DNV and VeChain we focus on actions against ocean plastic pollution, and how the collaboration creates full traceability and proof of impact.
If you missed out on the webinar, the recording can be found here.
In honor of our efforts of tackling plastic pollution, we’ve encouraged everyone on social media to do good for the ocean by hosting their own cleanup and share the results with us.
