TRACEABILITY
We track the collected plastic waste from its extraction site and throughout every step of the cleanup process
VERIFICATION
All plastic waste is verified by a third party before it is allocated to our partners
PROOF
All data is registered in a secure blockchain system
AUDITS
Our cleanup process is audited to ensure we uphold the standard of our certification
BLOCKCHAIN
We track and document all plastic waste collected
A blockchain-based tracking system secures real-time data and track the origin of the recovered plastic waste and all the steps of the cleanup process. This ensures true authenticity and the highest level of traceability.
CERTIFIED
Certified to assure the highest level of traceability and accountability
Our cleanup process is certified by the indenpendent third party DNV as only one of two projects in the world.
Our certification means that we do not only document our cleanup process, but our documentation is checked and verified by a third part.
DNV conducts 3 annual on-site audits and access all data in our blockchain system to verify the authenticity of the plastic waste we collect on behalf of our partners.
About our certification
The certification provides assurance from the independent third party DNV of the plastic reclaimed from rivers and oceans, traceability of the total collection process. The certification also assures fair compensation to our cleanup team – the heart of our cleanup solution.
Feel free to read the full scope of the certification here.
Who is DNV?
DNV is a globally leading quality assurance and risk management company operating in more than 100 countries. With over 100,000 customers across the maritime, energy, food and healthcare industries, as well as a range of other sectors. As a trusted voice for many of the world’s most successful organizations, they use their knowledge to advance safety and performance, set industry benchmarks, and inspire and invent solutions to tackle global transformations.
We use a real-time validation system, developed by VeChain. DNV governs the blockchain and use it for conducting assurance.
Every time we perform a step in our cleanup process, we register it in the app. Each step is a ´block´ and by the end of a cleanup process we will have a chain of blocks registered, and together this is called a blockchain. Once a block is registered in the system it cannot be changed – this makes blockchain technology one of the most secure and advanced systems to prove and document our cleanup process.
The collectors have access to the system via a mobile app that makes it easy for them to track the plastic waste. The data is registered already when the plastic waste is located in the water and until it is delivered and weighed at our sorting station.
Our blockchain includes coordinates and picture of plastic once located in the water, date and name of collector, weight, plastic types and batch number.
